"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! For his mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy." Psalm 107:1-2
In Psalm 107, David writes of the beauty and continued faithfulness of God toward His people. While reading this chapter, a particular phrase kept catching my attention. "Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men." This phrase is mentioned on four occasions within this Psalm. I was taken with how David is earnestly exhorting mankind to stop, slow down, and simply "give thanks" to Jesus for his bountiful blessings.
Friends, our Lord Jesus desires communion with us, but it doesn't have to be bells, whistles and grand theater. Part of communing with Him is "giving thanks" for His mercy and grace in our lives.
Several years ago I heard a pastor friend of mine make a simple and profound statement. "The more years I spend in the ministry, I find its the simple things of the gospel that mean so much." The "simple things of the gospel" can be found in one of my favorite songs. "When we walk with the Lord, in the light of his word. What a glory he sheds on our way. When we do his good will, he abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey."
I want to walk in fellowship and give thanks to Jesus, who has saved my life from destruction! In your quiet time with the Lord and when reflecting on his goodness, just utter the words, "Thank you, Lord." Do it repeatedly and begin to thank Jesus for everything in your life, even the most minute details of your existence. I challenge you to see if a wellspring of joy and strength will not arise out of your spirit! It doesn't necessarily mean all the complexities and difficulties of this life will suddenly evaporate. However, they very well could and glory to God for that miracle! You will find the strength necessary in Christ to face the daily challenges as you love him, thank him, and fellowship with him.
Oh, that God's children would give thanks! Go and speak life into someone today! May the Lord's richest and best be poured out in your life!
Praising Him,
Harold

About Me
In 1986, I made the decision to leave the secular arena of music and use my time and talents in gospel music. Since that time, I have held several church worship leader positions in addition to my travels as a soloist and tenor singer in various southern gospel quartets in Shreveport.
I have been married for 27 years to my college sweetheart and am highly blessed to be the father of two beautiful daughters who love Jesus with all their heart. I am currently the worship leader for University Worship Center and a legislative aide for the Louisiana House of Representatives.
In conclusion, let me say that Jesus Christ is my savior, my rock and strong tower. I'm so thankful that the Holy Spirit opened my worldly blinded eyes years ago to my sin condition and showed me a better way, the only way to live this life. It's all about our relationship with the risen King. Call on His name and accept Jesus Christ into your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to come alive in you and reveal Himself to you. This life changing force that transformed my life is free and available to anyone.
Take the time to speak life and a kind word to someone today. May you be blessed with abundant life in Him!
